Built more than 100 years ago, the house sits on Ruisseaumont Road, the grounds of a resort hotel that burned down in the late 19th century.  All nearby homes were built in grand rustic style, before the Adirondacks became a vast nature preserve.

The ownership of the camp is shared among five families, all grandchildren or great grandchildren of the original owners.  Our homes range from Boston to Atlanta, and span a wide range of ages and professions.  All of us are devout conservationists, hikers and canoers, lovers of movies, music and theater, and family activities like miniature golf, board and card games.  We hope our guests will share our experience that the house brings people closer through indoor and outdoor activities for every age and ability.

OUR STORY

"The house is well-equipped to handle large groups (plenty of beds, plus toys, games & books for young & old)."

"We especially love that the original character of the house is still there."

"It's great fun to read the guest log book dating back over 80 years!"

The heart of the house is the huge, two-story living/dining room with massive stone fireplace and original turn-of-the-century furniture--the epitome of rustic luxury, complete with piano. The spacious porch offers stunning views of the lake and mountains. The screened-in "eating porch" holds ten people, perfect for sunset dinners. Fully-stocked, renovated kitchen has all dishes, pots and appliances, including dishwasher, microwave, and (outdoor) charcoal grill. Eight people can eat around the large butcher block table, or take their meals in two other dining spaces in the playroom and the living room.

THE HOUSE
BEDROOMS

The house accommodates up to 5 couples and 6 children, with 9 BR and 4.5 baths.  Four bedrooms with queen (1) or two single beds open onto the living room, with full baths between each pair. The master bedroom, with queen sized bed and full bathroom, lies off the eating porch, and a sleeping porch with three single beds looks onto a well-stocked playroom. In addition, there is a double bed in the room over the kitchen, and a recently renovated small cottage with queen bed, bathroom, and kitchen stands behind the main house.

A short, private path between giant white and basalm pines leads to Wauhkin's boathouse on Lake Placid where guests can swim, paddle, or just lie in the sun.  The interior of the boathouse provides several changing rooms, and guests are welcome to use the available canoes.  Use of the motorboat is NOT included in the rental.

THE BOATHOUSE

Smoking is absolutely not allowed anywhere on the property.  We ask guests to respect the neighbors' privacy and not hold loud parties.  Guests are responsible for their own safety, including water safety.  Not suitable for wheelchairs.

Guests occupy and keep the whole house (plus the cottage and boathouse) for a week.  Cleaning is provided before and after by a professional service (for a required fee).  Free parking for four cars.
